NEWPORT MIRAGE WINS PRESTIGOUS
NSW 'CATERER OF THE YEAR' AWARD AT ANNUAL
RESTAURANT AND CATERING AWARDS

More than 800 of the industry's best chefs, restaurateurs, waiters and guests paid respect to Newport Mirage Hotel as it was announced the 2009 Caterer of the Year after winning an award earlier for Wedding Caterer in a Function Centre. Marque Restaurant was also acknowledged as the 2009 Restaurant of the Year and also won the award for the Fine Dining Restaurant category.

This top honour won by Newport Mirage represents an acknowledgement by the industry as being the 'best of the best' with its win beating 60 of Sydney's most high profile catering businesses. This award is the highest accolade any caterer in NSW can achieve.

"After 4 years of being a finalist, we are very excited to finally win this prestigious award. To also be honoured as 'Caterer of the year' amongst such illustrious company is very humbling and is an acknowledgement that we must be doing something right," commented Wayne Bayfield, owner of Newport Mirage.

The awards represent an important moment as the industry paused to honor these outstanding venues that were reviewed on the whole dining experience rather than a single dimension. The awards are judged by a team of judges who anonymously visited the venues to determine the winners.

Restaurant & Catering NSW represents 2200 restaurants and caterers in NSW. Each year more than 900 members are reviewed.

Last year, Newport Mirage also took out 4 bridal catering awards at the acclaimed Australian Bridal Industry Awards including being inducted into the NSW "Bridal Hall of Fame", an honour achieved by only 5 companies in NSW.
